Three teens are caught in a bioterrorism plot to destroy Seattle involving a diet drink that kills.
After accidentally breaking up with her boyfriend, Marley is ready to do anything to get her life back on track. When a new health clinic called Quick Fix opens in Seattle offering probiotic elixirs that supposedly burn off extra weight, Marley becomes their willing victim. After her first treatment, she loses five pounds in one week—and becomes so sick that she faints at work. But Marley is thrilled with the results, especially knowing that her ex-boyfriend is mobbed by girls every day.
When Marley’s best friend Ellie finds out the truth about Marley’s sudden weight loss, Ellie is concerned for her friend’s safety. Ellie knows better than anyone that there’s no such thing as a quick fix, but Marley’s not so sure. For Marley, the risk seems worth it—until the elixir takes control. By the time Marley discovers the truth about Thin Shot, she’s almost dead, and the only person who can save her is the last person she thought she could trust.
Melt away unwanted pounds with a probiotic elixir.

Excerpt
My phone rang before I turned on the engine, and I answered the call without bothering to read the screen. “Yeah?” I snarled. “What do you want?”
“You answered,” said Dean. He cleared his throat. “I was going to leave a methage, I mean, a message.”
Dean was calling me? And he was lisping again? “Um,” I said in a voice an octave higher than normal, “How are you?”
“Miserable. How have you been?”
“The same.” Hearing Dean’s voice brought tears to my eyes. “Today’s been particularly bad.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. You said we could still be friends, so it’s okay that I called, right?”
“Of course.”
“Then why haven’t you answered any of my calls before now? Or texted me back?”
“I didn’t know what to say.”
“You always know what to say. It’s one of the things I love about you. I mean loved about you. I mean… I still do. Love you, I mean.”
My chest felt like it was being squeezed. “That’s not what friends are supposed to say.”
“Friends can’t love each other?”
I looked up at the Space Needle shining above me. “Not the way I love you.”
“Then why’d you break my heart?” Dean asked.
“I didn’t break your heart. You broke mine!”
“That’s not what happened at all.”
“You broke up with me,” I said.
“You said you wanted to be free and unencumbered when you started college this fall.”
“I didn’t say that!” I protested.
“You didn’t?”
“No. All I did was agree with you that I hated being in a long-distance relationship because it was hard.”
