Excerpt
It was always Poppa Ron,
Who was never very far,
Who brought the chilled thing
From the fridge, in a jar.
Still laughing and smiling From chasings and tickles, The sisters could see in the jar, The PRIZED PICKLES!
Talia and Gabi Would giggle and grin.
With the chilled jar now open They’d tuck right on in.
And then on the pickles They’d greedily munch.
If they could, they would eat them For breakfast and lunch!
Weekly these sisters Would eat straight from the jar
Till one pickle remained, The best one by far!
Amazed, Nana Wendy Each week would say, “You’ll turn into a pickle, One fine day!”
My Review
My Rating: 5 Stars

I was granted complimentary access to Oh! What a Pickle! by Martin L Cohen as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to everyone involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
Oh! What a Pickle! is a story in verse about a pair of sisters named Talia and Gabi and how they and their relatives absolutely, positively love pickles. It’s the highlight of dinner with Poppa and Nanna, don’t you know!
This story was fun to read and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. Each spread pairs three 4-line stanzas with an illustration, and each stanza maintains an ABCB rhyme scheme. It flows nicely and although 12 lines looks lengthy on the page at first glance, the lines themselves are short. I counted 5-8 syllables in each. This book will be suitable as both a bedtime/story time read aloud and as a guided reading or independent reading book for young readers.

Thank you so much Sherry. I’m thrilled that you like the cover and excerpt. I hope you get the chance to read the whole book too.
Many thanks again.
I love pickles! No relish tray is complete without them! We must have sweet gherkins as well as mini dill pickles on ours.
HAHAHA! I know two silly sisters who agree with you 100%!
I’m very glad you like the concept and I hope you get a chance to enjoy the story too.
A question related to pickled things : Have you ever eaten any other pickled vegetables?
Yes I have actually. My whole family loves pickled veggies – including onions! My late grandmother used to make them and my brother and I (much like his daughters: AKA the Two Silly Sisters) would devour the whole jar at once!
We love all kinds of pickles. I especially love pickled okra!
🙂
Pickles are so crunchy! I like pickled okra too!
We would be in a real pickle if we ran out of pickles!
well if you do run out, you could always just read my book! hahaha
What inspires your ideas for main characters?
What inspires your ideas for your book plots?
Hi Tracie – I love your questions! To answer them both, the characters and plot are actually biographical. Talia and Gabi are my nieces and they do actually LOVE pickles! All the characters in the book are from m family and most of what happens in the story is true. I’m sure you can tell however when my imagination took flight hahahaha.
Thanks again for your wonderful questions and interest in my book. I do have several others that are ready for me to publish, and again, most of the stories and characters are based on family and friends, with a twist of course.
well if you do run out, you could always just read my book! hahaha
Whether they are sour or sweet, I think pickles are delicious to eat!
I 100% agree! 🙂
