Author Guest Post with Alexander Mukte, The Rewired Series

Posted on September 16, 2021 By Jenna Rideout No Comments on Author Guest Post with Alexander Mukte, The Rewired Series

This is a fantastic, genre-bending series that weaves together the best mystery, visionary, and speculative fiction elements. With characters that span across books and time, The Rewired Series explores what plagues humanity and the impact each person can have while leaving you with the promise of a better tomorrow. Alexander Mukte wraps all of these themes inside edge-of-your-seat, engaging mysteries with larger-than-life characters you’ll want to revisit again and again.

Welcome to the September 16th stop on the blog tour for The Rewired Series by Alexander Mukte with Goddess Fish Promotions. Be sure to follow the rest of the tour for spotlights, reviews, author guest posts, and a giveaway! More on that at the end of this post.

If I’d never heard of me would I read my book?

Yes! If you like fast-paced mysteries, if you’re looking for stories with positive, diverse characters, if your imagination appreciates a bit of the supernatural, and if you want optimistic messages that leave you with hope, then I believe you’ll appreciate my books. These are all things that appeal to me, capture my attention, and keep it, so this is how I built these stories.

The Recruiter is my debut novel and the first installment of The Rewired Series. The primary plot is around Ori, the visionary leader of a multi-billion-dollar corporation. Leslie is his in-house counsel and right-hand woman. When there is an attempt on Ori’s life, the two are caught up in a whirlwind of events and forced to go on the run, unsure who to trust. If that blurb doesn’t grab you, the book begins with Ori handcuffed to a chair in a shack in the middle of the woods. You’ve got to figure out how he got there and why right?

While the key mystery in The Recruiter is wrapped up by the end, the novel does leave unanswered questions. Luckily, the sequel, Deeply Rooted Dreams, is available too. It picks the story up several years later, unveiling not just a new mystery but a universal trial facing humanity. This book also shares more about what makes Ori and a few other key returning characters so special.

As someone who enjoys reading, is easily distracted, and is mindful of all of the distractions that exist, it was important to me to write in a way that immediately grips the reader’s attention and doesn’t let it go. When I see a book described as fast-paced, I want to jump in there and see if I can piece together the story sooner than the writer would have liked. As many times as I’ve reviewed these books, believe it or not, they still manage to find ways to surprise me.

A fast-paced and thought-provoking mystery that will keep you on your toes until the very end. The Recruiter is an entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable start to the series, full of intriguing twists and turns.

Leslie may be an idealist, but she’s no fool. She trusts her boss, Ori, implicitly. He has vision, principles, and a way with people. When a bomb is detonated at work, she finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of events. All of a sudden, their lives are on the line, and every choice matters.

Is Ori who she thinks he is? Why would anyone want to hurt him? And how do they get out of this mess? Leslie doesn’t have it all figured out, but what becomes clear is that there’s a lot the world doesn’t know about Ori Clayborn.

Jessica is driven to make a difference by uncovering the truth. Investigative reporting is her life. One day she gets a unique assignment that leads her back to her hometown and into Ori’s orbit. What will she find, and what’s her role in this?

The Recruiter is a captivating, imaginative story that draws you in deeper and deeper, page-by-page. Alexander Mukte creates a universe that pulls you in and doesn’t let you go.

Excerpt

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or the darkness of destructive selfishness. This is the judgment. Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”

Martin Luther King Jr.

Prologue

“Did you think we were going to let you get away with it?” The man’s voice was both incredulous and triumphant. The light from the full moon began to fill the room as Ori’s eyes adjusted. He inhaled deeply. The man continued as if he was talking to himself, “We knew you were up to something. Did you actually think that you stood a chance?” Ori surveyed the room. He squinted to focus on his surroundings.

“Are you listening to me?” the man continued speaking while Ori remained silent, not acknowledging him. Ori made out three bodies in the room with him: one talking, one holding a flashlight, and a third one close to what looked like the door.

The shack was an old cabin but was well built. No lights were turned on, nor was there a fire burning, so as not to attract any unwanted attention. The natural moonlight was perfect to illuminate most of the space. In the areas where the moonlight did not reach, there was the glow of a bright flashlight. This flashlight was suddenly pointed directly into Ori’s eyes.

This bold and compelling sequel is an evocative page-turner on the journey to a better future.

Since her encounter with Ori years ago, Jessica, an investigative journalist, has continued her mission to print the truth that the world needs to hear. Her pursuit has led her to meet with a source, Zach Carver, a leading mind at Singularity Group. The meeting goes awry, and Jessica awakens to find that she has a gap in time and memory and that Zach is now missing.

What happened? Who is responsible? And how can she help Zach? It is imperative that Jessica find out, and to her surprise, Ori has reappeared to help her do just that.

Malik, an intelligent and inventive young man, is determined to find a way to overcome the virus that has impacted the world. When he crosses paths with powerful people at Confidence Biotech, the leading treatment and contact tracing company, they take an unusual interest in him. Then, all of a sudden, they paint Malik as public enemy number one, forcing him to go on the run.

What do they want from him, and does this mean that he is close to discovering something they couldn’t?

Deeply Rooted Dreams is the second installment of The Rewired Series, unveiling more of the universal trial that Ori alluded to in The Recruiter. Alexander Mukte’s second novel creates an even more intricate world, striking an engaging balance of mystery and wonder.

Excerpt

Jessica opened the fence and entered the property from the backyard. The back door had a digital door lock. She used the six-digit pin that Zach had given her, and she heard the mechanical sound of the deadbolt opening. Zach had been incredibly forthcoming and trustworthy to this point, not to mention principled. She did not expect things to change now. The lights were out, making it difficult to see where she was going. Something told her not to turn on the lights. Jessica moved through the house, pausing every few steps to listen for any strange sounds. She entered a bedroom, then a small office, and later a bathroom. Besides a half-used roll of toilet paper, there was no sign that anyone had been in this house. The hallway led from the back area where the bedrooms were and opened up to the living room. The kitchen was on her left. Jessica paused before entering the room.

Her eyes shifted as she scanned the area. Did I hear something? She froze in place and strained to hear as much as possible. The house was quiet. The only sound was the faint buzz of the refrigerator.

She slowly moved forward into the living room toward a flat-screen TV monitor with a small box attached to it. Surrounding the monitor were several bookshelves with hundreds of Blu-ray discs. Unprompted, the box opened suddenly and ejected a disc. She squinted and whispered, “What?” She approached the ejected panel and reached out her hand to retrieve the disc. Just then she heard a sound to her left. She quickly turned toward the foyer, and within a split second, she saw a flash of light, noticed a metallic taste in her mouth, and collapsed onto the floor.

About the Author

Alexander had an active imagination his whole life, but it wasn’t until the birth of his son that he began putting the stories in his mind on paper. He wanted to be an example of someone pursuing his passion, dreaming big, and taking chances.

Alexander loves people, their stories, and their backgrounds as well as what shapes them, how they think, and what they dream about. He has a passion for learning and is known by most as an intensely curious person who eagerly soaks up anything and everything he can. He dreamt of a career that allowed him to learn new things every day. In writing, he has found a life that allows him to do just that.

After graduating with a degree in business, Alexander volunteered in the U.S. Peace Corps where he aided in creating sustainable small business ventures in Central America. Before taking this leap of faith, Alexander did Business Development and Consulting for large domestic and international companies. These experiences weave themselves into the characters, places and stories he creates.

An avid traveler, Alexander enjoys exploring new places with his family. He was raised in Southeastern Arizona, and now calls Georgia home, along with his wife and two sons.

The Recruiter is Alexander’s first novel, though perhaps the 39th in his mind. We hope you enjoy it, and Deeply Rooted Dreams, as much as we have.

Sci-Fi mystery/suspense? Sign me up! Thanks for sharing excerpts from the series. My question is, are any of your characters based on people in real life?

Hi Elizabeth! There are only loose connections between a couple of my characters and real-life people. I imagined Ori to look somewhat like me, and made him the kind of business leader I would have wanted to be if I had stayed in the corporate world. Agent Evelyn Blackwood is inspired by my wife and shares her sharp analytical brain. And then the names of all of the characters have intention. They are either a nod to someone I know, have historical significance, or are inspired by something mythical.
