On a Caribbean cruise, a platter full of cookies, and a shot of Christmas magic yields a perfect pairing.

Welcome to one of the October 27th stops on the blog tour for Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship by Parker Fairchild with Goddess Fish Promotions. Welcome back to both this author and this book! We featured Christmas Cookies on its excerpt tour last year. Be sure to follow the rest of the tour for more spotlights, reviews, author guest posts, and a giveaway! More on that at the end of this post.

Parker Fairchild: Sweet, Smart & Sexy Romance Heroes

Most romances are authored by women, so, I believe, that as females, we create and structure our heroes based on who we gravitate to on a genuine romantic level. In other words, we develop heroes that we’re attracted to or would be drawn to in real life. Over the years, I’ve heard many seasoned writers tell me that one key to success is to write what you know best and what you love. So, when our heroes reflect our deepest, personal desires, then they become the easiest to create and bring to life as multidimensional and swoon worthy characters.

As I began my writing journey, it didn’t take me long to figure out my type of hero, even going so far as to incorporate it into my branding and marketing: “Parker Fairchild, Sweet, Smart & Sexy Romances.” That’s because, at heart, I love sweet, smart, and sexy heroes. So, whether my book is a holiday romantic comedy, as is the case with my first published novel, “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” or a more serious work that reads more like women’s fiction, all my heroes possess these three basic personality traits.

Some girls like bad boys, but I’m the complete opposite as I love guys that have a true sweet temperament.

You remember the type clearly from high school. They were the quiet, possibly introverted guys, who were always there to protect and defend the outcast student who was being picked on by the legendary school bully.

These are the guys that conjure up that old proverb: “Still waters run deep.” They’re always respectful and ready to help. They’re kindhearted and care. They form deep attachments and friendships with people that last a lifetime. They’re often funny and witty. They’re honorable through and through, and they always do the right thing. Above all, they’re just sweet.

Personally, nothing is sexier to me than brains and being smart. So, there’s no coincidence that I have a hard drive full of character sketches for heroes who are various types of lawyers, doctors, and engineers as well as decorated military officers and entrepreneurs/small business owners ranging from the local plumber to the restaurateur.

More than just intellect, though, I love characters who’ve studied and worked hard to achieve something and do something amazing with their professional talents and skills.

And guess what? These are the same qualities that they desire in their soulmates. All my brainy heroes are paired with equally challenging and brainy heroines. So, when it comes to their attraction, it’s more than just the physical—they’re attracted to each other’s intelligence and their career accomplishments.

If brains and brawn are yin and yang, then I like my smart heroes to be brawny and sexy, too.

While these heroes excelled in the classroom, they also excelled on the athletic field. Now, they fill out a bespoke suit in a most muscular and delightful fashion at least as far as the heroine is concerned.

But these heroes are more than just muscle on muscle; they see the value in a wholesome lifestyle and maintaining a physically healthy body in the same way they value their intellect.

In the end, it’s no surprise, then, that I found my own sweet, smart, and sexy hero. Like my heroine and hero in “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” my hubby and I met and fell in love at first sight on a cruise.

On a Caribbean cruise, a platter full of cookies, and a shot of Christmas magic yields a perfect pairing.

Chemist and budding romance writer Olivia Chasen is on a cruise to avoid spending Christmas with her beautiful twin sister and new fiancé—Olivia’s ex. Now, thanks to her lonely, intoxicated ramblings on Santa’s lap, her fellow passengers think she’s in love with a fictional character.

Former Navy SEAL Commander Jace Morse has dealt with plenty of unusual situations in his career, but he’s never had the honor, the pleasure, or the privilege of being a beautiful and intelligent woman’s fantasy hero come to life. While he hasn’t officially met the sexy chemist, he’s sure eager to explore the chemistry that’s sizzling between them.

Bringing the charming SEAL together with the skeptical Olivia is going to take more than just Christmas cookies and a little help from Mrs. Claus; it’s gonna take a heaping dose of Christmas magic.

Excerpt

“What is it, sweetheart?” His eyes burned with love and desire, and she wanted to cry and dance at the same time.

Instead, she did the most un-Olivia thing—she grabbed his head and yanked his mouth down onto hers!

Cheers and catcalls erupted from the small assembly, and she distantly heard people chanting her name. Somewhere, she thought she heard someone shout, You Go, Girl, but she wasn’t sure. She was only into kissing Jace!
