Excerpt
“I have to remember not to mention Bill is my uncle. His name sends shivers down people’s spines,” said Richard.
“Let’s go to a coffee shop, get some rest and strategize our approach with Gloria’s family,” said Flore.
They exited the highway and went to a coffee shop. They ordered coffee and started talking.
“When we go to their house, if only the husband or the wife is present, we should not talk about the issue and instead wait until both of them are present,” Flore suggested.
Richard agreed and added, “We should act like we are aware that Gloria is not their daughter and ask for an explanation for how they got her.”
“We could even tell them that we know she is the daughter of the legendary Kiki Coto,” said Flore.
Richard became a little worried and quiet.
Flore sensed his change of mood and asked, “What are you thinking?”
“What if Bill kills Gloria to keep her quiet?” said Richard. “But maybe killing her won’t solve his problem. People want to see someone go down for killing a politician. Otherwise, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second,” continued Richard, trying to calm himself and give himself hope.
Flore didn’t respond. It was what she had thought, and she was not sure why Gloria was still alive. She couldn’t give an opinion and live with the consequences in case she was wrong. Richard looked at Flore and kept quiet. For a couple of minutes, there was a sad silence and mutual despair. They both felt it but did not want to actualize it by acknowledging it. Otherwise, it would mean turning around, going back, and capitulating. Flore broke the silence with a prayer in Spanish.
“Gloria said a prayer like this the other day,” said Richard. “If I didn’t know better, I would say you know each other.”

A note from the author
“The different episodes of this book were projected to me, like movie clips during meditation sessions. I was compelled to visit a Shaman retreat in Cusco, Peru, and experience Ayahuasca to complete the manuscript. I hope you enjoy the results, the story of Kiki Coto.” – Edward Avanessy
