Share about your first published book. How you felt when it was released, how you feel about it now, and how it sold.
Publishing my first book was honestly a surreal experience. Every time I got an email with something to approve it felt like Christmas. It was such an amazing and easy experience and of course made me antsy to get it out there. I would not show anything of the illustrations or cover to my family. I showed my best friend a few illustrations and that was it. I really wanted it to be a huge surprise. When my book was released the support, I received from my friends, who all but one, had no clue I even liked to write, was overwhelming and amazing. There were people I had as a friend on FB but had not talked to in years buying it and sharing it with others. I even made new friends and connections with families. It has truly been a special experience and humbling as well. I never really expected the support I received, and It makes me cry often but it really makes me emotional to see how not just loved but how many people understand the message. The biggest thing for me is having the message understood and it has meant everything to me to see my dream come true.
The day I unboxed my first book I jumped up and down like a little kid (total dork I know! =P). But this is a dream since I was seven and to hold it in my hands it was the craziest, special, and exhilarating feeling. Now like the dork I am, I would not put it down =P. If I was on my couch it was next to me; if I was working, it was next to me and my hand was on it because I do telehealth right now. That was for almost a week because it really meant that much to me. This is an experience I am so grateful for and is so special to me that I will never forget it.
It has been selling very well and a lot more than I expected. I have been averaging 4-5 books sold a week since I published in July 2020. I am so grateful to all those who bought it. It has sold more than I could have imagined.

Harper, a seven-year-old little girl that is typically developing, meets a new friend one day at the pool that is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They both love to swim at the pool and want to play together however, Emma has little communication skills. Emma can make sounds and not words and flaps her hands when she is excited. When Harper realizes she cannot communicate with her new friend she becomes determined to find a way to. She begins to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder and the different ways that Emma can communicate. Once she does the two become inseparable. Harper introduces Emma to all her friends and teaches them how to communicate with Emma. Harper and Emma become the center of their circle of friends and have more many more adventures together.

About the Author
Lisa Jacovsky currently is a doctoral level student at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is excited the possibilities having her Doctorate degree will bring her. She has been in the field of ABA since 2014. She began working with children with Autism in 2018 and is currently working in Early Intervention. It is her experience with children that inspired her to finally fulfill her dream of writing a book. Lisa began writing short stories when she was seven years old. Writing is her passion and one of many things she enjoys. She is excited for the future of her series Lets Talk!.
