Excerpt
We all experience our life through the thoughts we have going on inside of us. One thought at a time, we create our reality and then we live in that reality. That’s just how powerful our thoughts are; they create our life.
If your thoughts are, “I am so shy that I don’t think people even notice that I am here,” you might then feel kind of sad or lonely. When you are around people, you might then be very quiet. This can lead to people not really noticing you, because you are so quiet.
Whatever we are thinking about ourselves or the events unfolding around us, here is what happens: we have a thought, this is usually followed by an emotional response, and then a behaviour of some sort will often occur. This is just how we humans work inside: a thought followed by an emotion and then a behaviour.
So if we could all just think, “What a great, divine being I am,” then the emotion could be one of pure joy and love, and the behaviour to follow might be to treat others with love and respect. Wow, that sounds so easy, and it sounds like such a beautiful state to live out our time here on Earth. Let’s just come back to the reality that most people live in. We live in a time and place where people are feeling frustrated, angry, and lonely.
Even when we do our best to live life as a good human being, inside there can be thoughts of never being enough, never doing enough. We can be so hard on ourselves. We can have one face that we show to our family. We have different ways of being that we show to our co-workers, to our friends, and to the world in general. If this is your experience of life, then you know it can get very confusing.
It can be hard to figure out who you really are and how you can present this self comfortably in all of the different places in your life. There is a way to do this, though. If you learn to just live in the moment and be really present to looking at and listening to what is around you, then you can engage with present life as it unfolds and not live by and through your inner chatter. By being curious and looking for the good in yourself and others, you can become interested in your life and become quiet inside of your head.
About the Author
I live in Canada. This is where my husband Rae and I have raised our two daughters; they are our absolute pride and joy in life. Along with a career in nursing, I received my B.A. in psychology at the University of Manitoba. I have also undertaken the study of developing an understanding of the three principles of mind, consciousness, and thought. This understanding has enhanced my life immeasurably. Following a workplace head injury and depression, I went through a long climb back to health. I learned of an ever-present, inner psychological health that I have always had and just needed to understand once again. The result of this knowledge has led me to a life of peace, contentment, and love. I hope this book will lead you to a similar place.
